Created and released by alice in November 19, 2023, Katla is one of three maps in the QHLAN2024 Map Pack.

Katla is a 1on1/2on2 map created by alice for the QHLAN2024 Prewar tournament. With a cavern themed design, it boasts a series of utilizes slopes and stairs to travel between the three separate floors. It carries a RA, YA and GA along with two RL and one LG.

There’s also two Megas strategically placed far apart.

The Red Armor is placed on the highest floor with near access to a Rocket Launcher and a Mega Health. The Yellow armor is on the ground floor right next to a Rocket Launcher and a short distance to the other Mega Health. The LG is placed in a vulnerable spot easy to spam rockets or grenades at from several angles.

Katla’s layout makes it a fast map to navigate around for the player quick on their feet, the variations of angles to find your opponent from makes it have several points where battles can take place.

There are only three small ammo boxes for the lightning gun so count your cells!

Distinguishable features are the cracked floor with shallow lava pools and the crystals decorating the map, as well as the statue that has taken inspiration from the map Ridge of Reigning Champions by bps, towering over the Yellow Armor.

Name origin

The origin of the name Katla come from Astrid Lindgrens story "Bröderna Lejonhjärta", where Tengil's dragon is called Katla. Katla is also a name from old norse mythology. The dragon Katla:
