DM3

V1 Final E-ZR dm3.jpg

The finalists decided that it would be a round of DM3 that would open their mighty struggle for the title. Both [E] and ZR have excelled on this level in their earlier games in the group-games, quarters and semi-finals ... we knew it was going to be tough.

Both teams started out pretty evenly. Euthanasia got pent and I think ZR got the first Quad. The game was neck to neck after that and three minutes into the carnage, the game was still a draw. I think Euthanasia had more control over YA-RL while ZR had RA-SNG. Zetor grabbed the next pent and started to put some serious pressure to [E]'s defenders. With twelve minutes to go, ZR had moved up to a 10 frag lead. There was a huge fight over the next quad in which probably most of the two teams players participated. Euthanasia won the honors of wielding it ... for about 1.5 seconds before a teamfrag ruined the moment. The next few powerups were pretty even I think but Zetor got the third pent and used it to intensify their attacks. Then Trinidy got a Quad and rallied Euthanasia to overtake ZR's positions. With seven minutes left of the game, Euthanasia moved up to a 24 frag lead, and it kept ticking.

Then Hib got the last pent and ZR dug in their heels. Acid prevented Trinidy from using a potentially very damaging Quad and in the RA, a big stand-off was about to ensue. ZR made some steps towards a comeback in the final minutes of the game, and [E] held the RA-stairs and tried to hold them of from there. Both teams scored several frags and in the end, Euthanasia came out as the victors of the Abandoned Base ...

DM2

V1 Final E-ZR dm2.jpg

Definitely one of the most exciting matches in QW history. DM2 is just designed for twists and turns. The game started out as chaotic as usual, but [E] got a slight upper hand and used it to it's full extent. Two minutes down and they were in the lead with 9 frags separating them from Zetor. Gemma and Pingvin took two quads and Euthanasia was looking good. Then ZR managed to force control of the upper-rl and took a quad. Still, 5 minutes into the game, [E] was in the lead by 18 frags.

Once again, Pingvin and Gemma went quadrunning and things began to loosen up as ZR was pushed deeper and deeper into the blackness of low-rl. [E] had high-rl and Hix was on tele. Seven minutes into the game saw Euthanasia leading by 30 frags, they had taken a lot of quads and I think ZR realised that they had to stop them before they got anymore. Trinidy quad-suicided when ZR's attackers got to close to his person and the next quad was stolen by Rock who was killed shortly thereafter.

By mid-game, Euthanasia had the lead by more than 40 frags, ZR were determined to take the quad. Acid stole the next one as ZR took high-rl. He then blew up killing himself and an enemy, but at least keeping the quad from falling into [E]'s hands. Euthanasia kept up their play, but high-rl was out of their hands and ZR seemed to have deserted low-rl. That was a warning! Twelve minutes into gametime, [E] was up by around 70 frags when Acid grabbed the Quad and went on a killing-spree. He cleaned out the hallway and butchered everyone unlucky enough to be down the tele-stairs. Taking five frags in a few seconds and killing all [E] players but Pingvin who was hauled up in secret-ra, ZR moved into positions ...

Euthanasia had lost everything, they had the boomsticks and started to flood all positions. ZR started to frag for real. 6 minutes to go and ZR had gained 27 frags and were closing in with tremendous speed. Euthanasia retreated to the low-rl and ZR gave all of their players a turn playing with the Quad. 4 minutes left of the game and ZR had closed the gap at 9 frags! That's when Pingvin got a rl (something [E] hadn't seen for a while). Pingvin managed to put some pressure on ZR's positions and meanwhile Trinidy succesfully buckshotted all who dared to attack the lower-RA. Euthanasia rebounded slightly but with two minutes left, the teams tied! Then the luck turned on ZR and they started to loose their positions. Euthanasia had a slight lead of 8 frags with a minute to spare, that closed as they were forced to retreat to high-rl. There some of them waited out the last seconds, breathless ... [E] had taken it by 4 frags but what an incredible comeback from ZR!

Once again an even start, [E] taking the quad whilst ZR got the rl. As this level goes, the first minute was messy and resulted in a draw, Jaguar got the next quad, but the teams kept within 5 frags of each other for a long time. Then Gemma got two consecutive quads and things started to swing Euthanasia's way. That's when Rock dissed for no less tan 30 seconds before rejoining. With 16 minutes left, Euthanasia has a 15 frag lead over Zetor who are fighting to stay in the race. Gemma takes a third quad and it seems as if all [E] players have some weaponry. Then Acid breaks the evil-cycle of Gemma Quadwhoring-away and takes the goodies for himself. [E] still manages to hold the ya, and even when Rock takes the next quad and makes a successful takeover, he is instantly gunned down by Trini who arrives back at ya in lightning speed. 13 minutes to go and [E] are up by 30 frags. ZR again takes the next quad and makes a brief comeback. They close the gap by 7 frags in the two minutes to come and then they keep a close check on the quad.

Around mid-game, Zetor suffers major bad-luck as Hib and Rock lag out pretty much at the same time. Acid and Jag keep on fighting excellently but when their companions arrive back [E] are pretty much in control. With 15 minutes played, ZR are trailing, 55 frags behind ... and to add to the damage, Rock drops again and stays down for more than a minute. Now [E] owns the level and everyone goes hunting for easy prey. Rock reconnects with about a minute or two left and then [E] has around 100+ frags lead. Acid manages to upset things at the ending as he grabs quad, but otherwise ... it's game over ZR.

Amazing matches, brilliant play from both clans. A perfect climax (with exception of the disses) of the Villains league and hopefully a role-model for finals to come. Euthanasia really went in for the league, even assembling their team so that they could play the finals from LAN. When you look at the matches and see how even it was you can't blame them from wanting to have the best possible tp, Zetor are definatley deadly in any environment. Great games everyone and thank you for playing in the league!
